Are there any additional software requirements for running PoshConsole? I downloaded it and try and run it and it immediately crashes. Here is the screen shot from the error report:

It requires .Net 3.0 and PowerShell to be preinstalled.

I dont know if it is possible, but maybe a check should be introtuced if the prelimenaries are aviable and if not, PoshConsole should not be started.

If you don't have PowerShell, you should get a reasonable error message that tells you we couldn't start it ...

But if you don't have .Net, our code doesn't run at all, so you get an error message that we can't control.

I have .NET 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 installed and cannot run the app.
In my application event log, I have an error entitled ".NET 2.0 Runtime Error Reporting" with this message:
"EventType clr20r3, P1 poshconsole.exe, P2 1.0.2007.8170, P3 46c5272e, P4 poshconsole, P5 1.0.2007.8170, P6 46c5272e, P7 29d, P8 3c, P9 system.componentmodel.win32, P10 NIL."

Is it trying to run it under 2.0 instead of 3.0?
I double checked Windows Update and the only update I do not have installed is "This update addresses a Rights Management Services issue with the Microsoft XPS Viewer. You can restore full Rights Management functionality by installing this update." for .NET 3.0 (KB932471)

I was having the same problem. After installing Powershell everything worked fine. Something must be wrong with the reasonable error message on XP sp2.

of course I have powershell installed right now - but that's the error message I am getting
I will try to reinstall and see if that helps.

Ding!

So I reinstalled .NET 3.0 and then powershell, (along the way my profile got corrupted, fun), and it still crashed. So I decided to debug it and when VS05 opened it said "hotkey already registered" !!!! this was due to Autohotkey running on my machine. I shut it down and PC ran! Yay!

Definitely an exception that can be caught :)

Doh! My bad.

Jachymko made some changes to the hotkeys in his build and I copied them in, and ... well anyway, the bottom line is that in the process I forgot to trap that error. For the record, the hotkey is Windows key plus ` (Win+OemTilde) and you can edit it in the config file (if you can find that). I'll fix it in the next build.
